We always try to work to a fixed fee (and to be lower cost than law firm partners/fee earners).

Due to our varied skill sets (Derek is a lawyer, former equity partner, legal technologist, knowledge manager and head of strategic development and head of Innovation and Digital), we tend to be able to deliver more value than most (i.e. you get several people rolled into one) and importantly save businesses time and opportunity costs). We are totally independent and do not take technology supplier commissions.

How We Work in Practice:

We principally work in three ways although can be flexible:

  1. Retained Advisory - a sensible plan people are increasingly leveraging is our fixed fee retained advisory/innovation as a service model. Most people go for the model based on 2 days a month but we can do more or less than this (we do a range from 0.5 days to 4 days a month). Where it helps we also bring in support from one of our project execs to maximise value. An advantage of this model is that we work in a way which is aligned with the ability of most businesses to consume our services. We help businesses really move forward and they have access to us to help with other issues which come up.

  2. Non Exec/Strategic Support – we provide this for CEOs, Managing Partners, Boards, Ops Directors, IT Directors, Innovation Directors and General Counsel. People find it helpful to use us as a sounding board and we often help them formulate strategies and assemble teams to deliver the same. This is very aligned with the MicroNed approach we have written about The Rise of the MicroNed — Hyperscale Group Limited. Again this is typically for anything between a day and 2 days per month.

  3. Projects – we support organisations on specific projects. The nature of these vary hugely but normally our experience means that we are able to deliver these more quickly and are able to assemble the very best teams to support you.
